The Goettingen Journal of International Law is an initiative with the primary objective of publishing an e-journal of legal scholarship focusing on International Law.

Our aim is to publish a journal that fosters debate among scholars of diverse fields in international law, while, at the same time, facilitating contributions to the debate from related disciplines. GoJIL publishes two types of issues. The first type is a semi-annual regular issue. For this we encourage submissions addressing international law in general employing methodologies from neighboring disciplines such as international relations, history, or economics. The journal also welcomes contributions emanating from specialized branches of international law such as international criminal law, international humanitarian law, and international economic law. For this purpose, GoJIL runs an open and permanent call for papers. Based on a thorough selection process regarding the significance of the topic for academic discourse GoJIL ensures quality by blind peer review. Two reviews provide the basis for the final decision on publication by the Editorial Board.

We cordially invite and encourage all scholars in the field of international law to submit their manuscripts for publication.

GoJIL individuates itself by focusing on international law and adjunct disciplines including interdisciplinary approaches to legal scholarship. It is the first German international law journal published exclusively in English. It is organized by a vivid group of students from the University of Goettingen. The Journal ensures high academic quality with blind peer review by at least two qualified scholars selected individually with regard to the specific content of each submission. With a global network of professional lawyers specialized in international law, GoJIL provides a complimentary language check for its second-language authors. GoJIL is published in accordance with open access principles to contribute to current scholarship made accessible to everyone.
